Idea 20. Spaghetti and Sausage.

Processed meats are classified as Group 1 carcinogens (carcinogenic to humans), back in 2015, by the World Health Organization’s (WHO) International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), meaning there’s strong evidence they can cause cancer, particularly colorectal cancer, while red meat is classified as Group 2A (probably carcinogenic).
Here is what is considered processed meats by ChatGPT:
Bacon, Sausages (including hot dogs, bratwurst, chorizo), Ham (including sliced deli ham), Salami, Pepperoni, Corned beef, Pastrami, Beef jerky, Canned meats, Smoked meats, like smoked turkey or smoked fish, etc.
So…instead of eating CARCINOGENIC sausages, made of the ears, tails, nails, feet and what not, from a tortured animal….we can eat a plant based Italian garlic and fennel sausage! from Field Roast, that has 25 gr PROTEIN! WITHOUT THE CARCINOGENS! Here is a recipe with over 55 gr of protein! And no violence. Let’s be healthy together ❤️

Here we go:

Ingredients with their approximate protein breakdown:

200 gr Spaghetti (can be gluten-free for a gluten-free recipe) ~24 gr protein
1 Vegan Sausage (I used Italian Garlic and Fennel from Field Roast) ~25 gr protein

Tomato Pasta Sauce:
1 cup Tomatoes ~2 gr protein
1/4 Onion ~0.4 gr protein
1 clove Garlic ~0.25 gr protein
1 tbsp Olive oil ~0 gr protein
2 tbsp Nutritional Yeast ~5 gr protein
1 tsp Oregano ~0.3 g
1 tsp Basil ~0.3 g
1 tsp Salt and Black Pepper ~0 gr protein

Total Protein for Entire Recipe:

≈ 57 g protein

Notes*

– Most of the protein here comes from the pasta and sausage.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. COOK SPAGHETTI ACCORDING TO PACKAGE INSTRUCTIONS.
  2. BLEND THE INGREDIENTS FOR THE SAUCE.
  3. FRY THE SAUSAGE IN A PAN OR BAKE IT.
  4. MIX EVERYTHING TOGETHER.
